The brief

Symantec requested a secure network control centre along with a HP Halo video conference facility.

How we met the challenge

Symantec are the global internet security company known for the Dr Norton brand. Their EMEA office wanted an upgrade to create a fully fledged SOC - a secure operations centre - that monitors network traffic and other highly secure anti virus operations. The SOC is a mix of control, emergency reaction and team management spaces, focused on the flat-screen displays at the front of the SOC.

Alongside this, Symantec wanted a HALO video conference installation, to dramatically reduce Atlantic business travel. HALO offers VC at an almost face-to-face standard, but requires a level of installation quality that ensures nothing detracts from the technology standards. We suggested an air con solution that created a very low noise air handling ability, helping to eliminate unwanted acoustic disturbance. Hewlet Packard commented that the build of the HALO room was the only instance they'd seen of construction exactly as specified in the Installation Manual.

Both parts of the project were completed before the deadline, and Alan Osborne at Symantec wrote afterwards 'Thanks again for the outstanding work on the project'.
