Proud to Support The Old Vic - corporate responsibility
Created on 24/03/15
‘The arts are not a prerequisite of the privileged few; nor are they the playground of the intelligentsia. The arts are for everyone – and failure to include everyone diminishes us all.’
Lord Attenborough’s Maiden Speech to the House of Lords in 1994
IOR is proud to become a Gold Corporate Member of The Old Vic Theatre
We believe the arts are important, as part of our heritage and as part of today’s culture, for everyone to enjoy. Unlike other theatres, The Old Vic does not receive a regular public subsidy from the government and instead relies on support from individuals, corporations, trusts and foundations.
The Old Vic has survived and in recent years thrived, because it has always reached out to the widest range of audiences without compromising artistic standards. For each performance The Old Vic also allocates 100 subsidised tickets to under 25s, to ensure the performing arts are open to people of any age, income or background.
During its 200-year history, The Old Vic, in addition to staging plays, has supported the education of young and adult people from deprived backgrounds, and its commitment to creative learning, fostering new talent and engaging with community through ‘Old Vic New Voices’ is stronger than ever.
