IOR Delivers Sky Central Project

Created on 19/07/16

IOR delivers 3,000 workstation package for new 540,000 sq ft Sky Central building.

New BSkyB Sky Central Building 2016

IOR Project Completion: July 2016

New Sky central building is almost 540,000 sq ft - one of the largest agile working spaces in Europe, taking over 10 minutes to walk from one side of the building to the other.

Due to the project’s huge scale, IOR devised an install programme via 9 phases, across 18 neighbourhoods.

IOR supplied and installed circa 3,000 workstations, including desking, task chairs, storage, lockers, plus bespoke partition wall systems and meeting room furniture.

Manufacturers were sourced from across Europe to deliver a diverse product range – Herman Miller (England), Koleksiyon (Turkey) & Ergonom (Italy) for the workstation package, plus bespoke partition wall systems from Massiv Forest Products (Romania) and colourful ‘All Star’ meeting chairs from Vitra (products developed in Switzerland).

Our install team flew to Romania, staying overnight in forest accommodation, all part of their ‘hands on’ installation training for the Craftwand bespoke partition walls (Massiv Forest Products). This new IOR sourced product, was received very positively by Sky, with the possibility of incorporating into other future Sky projects.

IOR and Herman Miller will train up to 1,000 people a day on how to use and adjust the Herman Miller ergonomic Sayl chair,  as teams of people are phased into the building.

Subsequent to the Sky Central Project, Back of House and the Executive Area were added to the works. Sky’s Back of House features the ‘Green Room’, where TV guests and presenters get ready before going in front of camera, and the Executive Area has a stylish sophisticated feel, with elegant products from Bene featured throughout.
