The brief

Our client, the largest employer in the FTSE 100, requested a reception re-design to reflect the size of the organisation, to improve the appearance of the building facade, and to update the reception facilities to cope with the very high numbers entering the building.

How we met the challenge

Following a clean-sheet design competition IOR Group created a scheme that defined traffic routes for staff, on-foot visitors and vehicle-based visitors. The scheme extended the reception area envelope to make use of a covered external space, provided a design solution to reflect the corporate demands, and met the needs of local Authority planning regulations.

The scheme was completed on a very tight timescale, finishing on December 24th, to allow occupation immediately after Christmas.

Phase two of the scheme will see the installation of disabled access facilities having done the preliminary ground works during phase one.
