The Daiwa Story revolves around the London office refurbishment of the 82,000 sq ft listed headquarters building at 5 King William Street for Japanese investment bank Daiwa Capital Markets.
The building’s stunning listed exterior and reception area are to be restored and given a more contemporary feel. Logistical skills and sensitivity were combined to deliver a fascinating office refurbishment project and restore one of London’s gems to its former glory. Daiwa’s desire to minimise its carbon footprint during this process has also played a key part in the procurement strategy.
“The project provided an opportunity to review our business and consolidate our trading area to optimise communication between teams - giving us greater chances to cross-sell. Together with a brighter, more modern environment, it has improved morale and productivity across the organisation." - Ian Davidson, Executive Director of Facilities

‘Open heart surgery’ was required in relation to the strip out and replacement of the mechanical and electrical plant whilst the building was still awake.
“The trading floor and all other business critical areas were kept live during the works. We are delighted with the resilience achieved, which is testament to both the design and the execution of this technically very complex project.”
